What is "Life II" all about?

Yes, Pamela in "Life II" is based upon a real person. Yes, that person is a fitness trainer in real life. She's kind of short, about 5'6", but she's very fit. She's able to lead two demanding aerobics classes in a row without exhaustion. And this woman also has a ponytail, same as Pamela. I find that woman to be one of the most warm, friendly people I've known, and I don't even know her that well. I chose this character to contrast with Max's wife from Life I, Abby, who can be quite a pain in the neck, to put it mildly. In contrast to Pamela, who is content to enjoy life as it comes, Abby feels she has to plan all aspects of her life in order to maximize her experience as a person. Tragically, Abby also firmly believes that everyone else benefits from her careful, thorough selection of choices.

After experiencing 14 years of a controlling marriage with Abby, Max is naturally drawn to the contrast presented by Pamela. Pamela, of course, knows nothing of Max's Life I marriage to Abby since that marriage became non-existent in the Life II timeline. There's also a class struggle; while Pamela and Abby never interact in the book, they represent very different economic backgrounds to Max. Pamela is "blue collar," whereas Abby is "white collar," same as Max.

I won't reveal too much more here, but it's clear from reading "Life II" that Max is subconsciously reacting to Life I when he makes his choices, even as he disavows that he would ever do so. Anyway, I intended for Pamela to be a warm, loving, genuine person, who has a big heart. Even so, that refreshing personality of Pamela's is severely challenged by Max's dilemmas in his own Life II, but read more to find out!

Theme: Show a stock photo, if you have one already, of the Pamela character. She should be looking to the left or right, and smiling, happy. Remember, in the story, Pamela's age ranges only from age 25 to 29.
